About this Painting
This is my original oil painting, created en plein air (on location) right at the historic harbour of Porlock Weir.
I wanted to capture the intimate, quiet atmosphere that descends when the tide recedes, leaving the small boats resting gently on the mudflats. Painted in a soft Impressionist style, the piece focuses on the beautiful interplay of light, shadow, and reflection as the Exmoor landscape meets the sea in Somerset.
My loose brushwork brings to life the textures of the moored boats and the subtle colours of the wet harbour bottom. This is a small, highly authentic work that offers a true sense of place and tranquillity, making it a perfect addition to a cosy, coastal-themed space or a collector's gallery wall.
