Shipping Policy
Shipping and Delivery Policy
At Lindsey McLaren Artist's Studio, we understand that the safe delivery of your original artwork is paramount. Each painting is unique, precious, and requires careful handling, dedicated packaging time, and specialist delivery.
This policy outlines how I prepare and ship your artwork, ensuring it reaches you in pristine condition.
1. Shipping Locations and Carriers
I proudly ship to clients across the UK Mainland and to International destinations as listed at checkout.
All artwork is shipped using fully tracked and insured courier services (e.g., DPD, FedEx, or specialist fine art shippers, depending on the size and value).
Destination and Estimated Transit Time (After Dispatch)
-
UK Mainland: 1–3 Business Days
-
Europe: 5–7 Business Days
-
International (Rest of World): 7–14 Business Days
Please Note: Transit times are estimates and may vary due to customs processing for international shipments.
2. Order Processing & Dispatch Time
We take the utmost care in preparing and packing your artwork to ensure it arrives in perfect condition. Our processing time is the time it takes for us to prepare your order for collection by the courier and is separate from the transit time.
Important Note on New Commissions
All newly completed commissioned oil paintings require a mandatory 7-day minimum drying period after completion. This allows the paint to dry sufficiently to be safely packaged, protecting the integrity of your custom artwork during transit. This drying time is factored into the processing times for commissions listed below.
Tier 1.
General Processing for Originals and Prints (up to £500)
-
Processing Time: 3-5 Business Days
(This applies to all in-stock original paintings, prints, and non-commissioned artworks. We only list original artwork once it is dry, cured, and ready for immediate professional packaging.)
-
Service: Items in this value range are professionally packaged by us using specialised art-grade materials, and dispatched via a secure, insured, tracked courier service.
Tier 2.
New Commissions (All Values) & High-Value Originals (over £500)
This category covers the unique requirements of newly completed commissions and the specialist logistics needed for high-value or oversized pieces.
-
New Commission - Processing Time (before shipping)
10-12 Business Days*
(Includes the mandatory 7-day drying period + 3-5 days for final packaging and dispatch.)
-
High-Value Original (>£500)
7-14 Business Days*
(Allows for specialist logistics, including custom crating, final insurance, and secure collection scheduling.)
*Service: This extended time frame allows us to:
-
Arrange and obtain final transit insurance for the full value.
-
Liaise with a specialist fine art logistics partner (e.g., for custom wooden crating, where required).
-
Schedule a dedicated, secure collection.
-
Complete the mandatory drying/curing period (for commissions).
Please note: For international orders or highly complex/oversized pieces, we will provide an estimated dispatch time as part of your custom shipping quotation. We will not proceed until you have approved the full timeline and cost.
Important: Dispatch vs. Delivery: The dispatch time is when the painting is safely ready to leave the studio. The delivery time is the transit time listed above. Your tracking number will be sent to you upon dispatch.
4. International Shipping
For all shipments outside of the UK, please be aware of the following:
-
Customs and Import Duties: The client is solely responsible for any import duties, customs fees, taxes (e.g., VAT or GST), or handling fees charged by your country's customs office.
-
Customs Declaration: The shipment will be declared accurately as Original Fine Art with its corresponding full sale value. We cannot mark the item as a "gift" or reduce the declared value to avoid customs fees.
-
Client Communication: If customs or the courier contacts you for payment of duties, prompt payment is required to avoid delays or the return of the artwork.
