About this Painting
Painted en plein air. I love the bus stops in the North East—they’re humble structures that quietly witness so much. In this piece, I wanted to capture the contrast of the bright, low sun hitting the tarmac against that thick, unruly ivy cap. It looked just like a funny, overgrown village hairdo, and that's the playful energy I used my expressive brushstrokes to capture.
